Freddie Chow, Chief Talent Officer, Sanofi Asia Pacific
Freddie Chow, Singaporean, is the Chief Talent Officer, Asia Pacific for Sanofi. Freddie has more than 20 years’ experience in human resource management and 23 years working in the Sanofi Group. Prior to this appointment, Freddie was the Vice President, Human Resources for Sanofi Asia/China. Freddie started with the Group as the Head of HR in the Singapore manufacturing site, where he embarked his career into the pharmaceutical industry. Freddie’s early career years were in the field of purchasing and materials management. Freddie and his family moved to Shanghai in 2001 as Head of HR for the China operations. During his China assignment, Freddie has made significant contributions including Sanofi-Aventis merger in 2004, started Sanofi University in 2008 to ensure learning and personal development of employees. In 2010, Freddie started the China Talent Center to build a talent pipeline to prepare the organization for expansion as part of strategic long range planning. Freddie was instrumental in the China growth where we expanded from 800 employees in 2005 (post-merger) to 8,500 employees when he left China in 2013. Externally, Freddie was previously elected as a council member with the China Pharmaceutical HR Group and chaired the compensation and benefits committee. In 2003, Freddie was named China “HR Director of the Year” in the China Staff Awards by CCH. In 2012, Freddie was named “15 People of 15 Years” China Staff Awards. Freddie has a mechanical engineering background with a business degree from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and a Masters in Human Resource Management from Rutgers University. Freddie is a Certified Compensation Professional with WorldatWork since 1998 and is currently a teaching faculty member in China and Singapore.
