Chao Zhang GE China Technology Center HR Director
With 17 years of global human resource experience at GE, Mr. Chao Zhang currently leads a strong HR team at GE China Technology Center.Chao joined GE in 1993, holding various HR leader positions in different GE markets, including United States, China and Japan.Chao took the role of regional, China and Asia HR leader for such team as manufacturing, marketing in different GE businesses, including healthcare, plastics and capital, etc, with rich HR experience in the field of Merger & Acquisition, Compensation & Benefit, and Talent Acquisition and Development, etc.
Chao has also worked at the legendary John F. Welch Leadership Center (also known as Crotonville) for several years, responsible for change management, training and development for senior managers globally.When working in GE Healthcare, Chao served as senior consultancy manager, responsible for offering consultancy service in the field of strategic development and cultural change to the management team of large international medical institutions.
Chao is also a senior trainer in the field of leadership development and corporate management. He acted as the lecturer at many seminars participated by CEOs from large enterprises home and abroad.In 2012, Chao was awarded as 2012 China Best Human Resource Manager by HRoot.Chao received his MA and BA from Tsinghua University. |

As one of five global research and development facilities at the hub of GE’s worldwide technology development efforts, the GE China Technology Center (CTC) is a diversified, multi-disciplinary organization conducting fundamental research, new product development, engineering service and sourcing service.
Located at Zhangjiang High-Tech Park, the China Technology Center (CTC) has been operational since May 2003 with a total physical area of 47,000 square meters. CTC is one of the biggest foreign invested R&D centers and among the very few enterprise R&D centers which have fundamental research capabilities.
With more than 2,800 researchers and engineers and 60+ labs in China, CTC teams are driven to bring technology breakthroughs and product innovations to life in the following key areas:
• Clean Energy, including clean coal, wind power, solar power, etc;
• Water, including seawater desalination and water treatment;
• Material, including nano-material, crystal, ceramics, material analysis, etc;
• Power-electronic, real time control
• Advanced manufacturing technology;
• Imaging Technology;
• Chemical, including conductive polymer technology and electrochemical technology;
• Sensing and inspection technology
• LED Lighting
• Transportation technology, and etc
GE China Technology Center accomplished more than 100 R&D projects every year. Till the end of 2011, R&D people of GE in China have filed over 700 patent applications. |
